Dr James Allen, Chiropractor
James trained at Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, USA. He opened Gentle Chiropractic in 1996 after several years working in practices in Australia and the Middle East.
James was born and bred in Hawke’s Bay. Before getting into Chiropractic he studied Commerce at Victoria University and Veterinary Science at Massey University. He worked for several years in Queenstown and Southland.
Outside of work, James enjoys sports of all kinds, especially running, cycling and triathlons. He also enjoys architecture, movies and the great NZ outdoors. He has two young adult boys and lives in Meadowbank.

Dr Shelley Smith, Chiropractor
Shelley trained at the highly regarded New Zealand College of Chiropractic in Auckland. She has had an interest in health and healthy living since her days as a competitive runner in high school. Shelley’s introduction to chiropractic was as a client at Gentle Chi-ropractic many years ago. She has practiced here since 2015. Shelley has lived in Auckland most of her life. Before studying chiropractic she enjoyed a very successful career in the hair industry, as a stylist, manager and owner. She is passionate about helping people and both careers have given her that opportunity. Outside work Shelley loves running, animals, movies and gardening. She can often be seen running around Waiatarua Reserve with her Black Labrador, Ace. Shelley has three young adult children and lives nearby in Mt Wellington. Hilary Robertson, Front Desk
Hilary has been an enthusiastic member of our team since October 2016. Her background, ranging from teaching and interior design to travel and sales, has given her the ability to talk easily to clients and make them feel at home. She is genuinely interested in people and enjoys meeting and engaging with everyone who comes into the office. Hilary is a Meadowbank local. Apart from a ten year stint, living and working in Sydney, she has spent most of her life in the neighbourhood, and has lived in their current house for over 30 years! She enjoys the one minute commute to work and the likelihood of bumping into any one of our clients while out enjoying the surrounding area. Outside of work, Hilary is passionate about Golf, Travel, Fashion, Art, Interior Design and Gardening. She loves animals and exercising and is often seen walking her dog “Maddy” in the local parks and walkways. Hilary also likes to spend time with her husband, two children and four grandchildren.
